GlobalFit interviewed employees of all ages and identities to learn about how they live our mission of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both in and out of the office. Here’s what they had to say.

GF: Thanks for volunteering your time today. Can you please introduce yourself and your role at GlobalFit?

N:  I’m Nina Hasemann, a Registered Dietitian with Charge.

GF: Hi Nina! What does a “healthy lifestyle” mean to you?

N:  Having a healthy balance between work, friends/family, exercise and nutritious food.

GF: When did you begin focusing on a healthy lifestyle and why?

N: I have made healthier lifestyle choices since the age of 12 years old.  As an athlete I saw the impact healthy eating had while training and racing and wanted to utilize this to my advantage.

GF: How do you stay physically active?

N: I currently stay active through F45, running, swimming and taking new classes at the gym from time to time. (GF EDIT: F45 is a 45 minute functional training class that was born in Australia.)

GF: How do you practice mindfulness or mental “fitness?”

N: By listening to my body and taking rest days when needed.

GF: Does your wellness routine include a certain way of eating? If so, can you describe it?

N: My wellness routine includes a lot of fruits and vegetables and limiting my intake of packaged foods with a lot of additives. I still allow the occasional slice of pizza (Chicago style preferred) and try not to deprive myself if I want a treat from time to time.

GF: How do you make time for your wellness routine amidst work, family, and other responsibilities?

N: I schedule my workouts into my planner at the beginning of each week but still give myself flexibility in case something else were to come up.

GF: In regards to your wellness routine, what have you tried before that didn't work for you, and why not?

N: Exercising at 5 AM. It worked for a while but my schedule didn't allow for me to go to bed early enough and too much sleep was being sacrificed.

GF: What does it take for you to be consistent in your wellness routine?

N: Planning out my exercise and meals a week at a time.

GF: What are your top tips for someone looking to live a more healthy lifestyle?

N:  Start small (Plan 1 meal, Schedule 1 workout, etc.)

Make one goal a day to work towards (Drink an extra glass of water, etc.)

Allow yourself a treat from time to time (A healthy lifestyle should not make you feel deprived)

GF: Anything else you want to mention?

N: Always remember healthy is a lifestyle not a temporary change and it looks different for everyone.
